Hope springs eternal, or “Why People.....
« Thread Started on Today at 7:50pm »
................... Believe in Weird Things.”
In today’s society as in those of the past, many things are explained by Science, the Metaphysical and various other means devised by man, meant to “explain” the “unexplained.”
In the modern world in which we live, we have many things of which we can and should be grateful for , which include medicines, the ability to feed the hungry, the ability to reach beyond our present place in time and space and envision and actualize the future.
As humans, we are without a doubt creatures of habit and hopes.
We tend to take a position and stand by that position until we are shown it is correct or it is false, which is an admirable trait and one which has given us as humans, many advancement some that have improved and some that have diminished the quality of life.
We have plastics and plastic explosives, cars and tanks, Supersonic Transports, and B-1 bombers. We have put a man on the moon and we have developed weapons of mass destruction. At times we seem out of step with our environment and the science which seems to “push” us forward.
The economist Kenneth Boulding's made these following observations relevant to science:
As far as many statistical series related to activities of mankind are concerned, the date that divides human history into two equal parts is well within living memory. The world of today is as different from the world in which I was born as that world was from Julius Caesar's. I was born in the middle of human history.
The ultimate answer to the why do we believe in weird things, is a question that must be viewed by each individual, but must ultimately be viewed with a basis in the understanding of the human condition. Which essential involves our tenure on Earth, as being contingent and filled with uncertainties, the most frightening of which is the time and place of our personal demise?
If in fact taxes and death, as the joke goes, are the only things we can be certain of in an uncertain world. It’s no wonder we become gullible and rationalize our thinking to explaining all the “unexplained” events in our lives.
Because we can not control our lives to the extent that we think we should, we cannot accept and seek to adjust / modify our lives in a manner that rages against a bleak reality. To that end, many people involved in CMKX seek logic / rationale by which they can “order” their lives and all that it interacts with.
Our critical faculties for rational thought break down under the onslaught of promises and hopes offered to assuage our anxieties, not only over life’s inequalities, but the drama being played out by CMKX. Wouldn't it be marvelous if we suddenly woke up tomorrow and found that CMKX had all the answers and that we will realize those dreams we have hooked to CMKX’s success?
This rational that brought us to CMKX, is the same human trait, which has probably evolved since man walked two million years ago in Pleistocene conditions, where one's life was as uncertain as the next meal - whether one was predator or prey.
It is only over the past century or so that modern medicine, health and life insurance, and crime prevention have brought some relief from this most basic of fears. Which is the basis for my opening statement that Hope springs eternal?
This my friends is what drives all of us - skeptics and believers alike – in CMKX, compelled as it were , to be ever susceptible to the unsolved mysteries, to seek spiritual meaning in a physical universe, to desire immortality and to wish that our eternal hopes are fulfilled in reality and in our case as shareholders…with CMKX.
I could state that this is the same trait that pushes many people to seek and believe in the gurus, but then my intentions are not to diminish the fervor attached to CMKX, but more to establish a “reality check.”
After all, it is the human mind that has evolved to seek and find connections between things and events in our individual environment that should be avoided, or accepted, which is essentially why we all work so studiously to realize success and or rationalize acceptable scenarios when things go wrong.
The problem we are currently facing is that this “innate” ability to survive is not always an infallible process. Unfortunately, we will make connections whether they are there or not.
This fellow CMKXers is what I have stated repeatedly over the past six months as the obvious misidentification's of data and information relevant to CMKX.
It’s simple the condition comes in two varieties: False negatives, which in some circumstances get you killed, and e positives which are merely a waste of time and energy. What do I mean by that?
In Man’s history for example, knowledge of plate tectonics or meteorology in pre modern humans mistook the earth quakes and thunder for the language of angry gods. It might not have cost them their lives, but it evolved as “baggage” to become part of the human belief system and left us with a legacy of false positives.
The belief determines the perception…. "I wouldn't have seen it had I not believed it" becomes the reversed norm.”
Although subject to the same mental flaws as our common ancestors, there is a significant difference in our modern thinking. We have the advantage of living in the here and now and examining / realizing a “wealth” of data passed down to us from our ancestors. Which, thanks to computers and other advancements, allows us to weed out false positives.
The CMKX investor however, is for all intents and purposes, required to live a life consisting of a flawed belief system due to a lack of knowledge. We are told to simply have faith, even if we do not hear “facts” relevant to CMKX’s movement or lack thereof.
Andy would have us believe this lack of corroborative evidence is a result of the SEC’s intervention and not due to the activities of CMKX. I submit that “cause and effect” of CMKX’s past are the present conditions which we are faced with now and not the NSS, which until Frizzell / Martin addressed it, was actually unnoticed by CMKX.
I can only state that while I firmly believe in CMKX’s potential based on prior press releases, I do tend to be somewhat more skeptical lately given the environment that has developed over the past six (6) months.
While I choose to believe that we (shareholders) are non participants in this CMKX / SEC situation, I am skeptical of extending any faith in the notion as proposed by Andy, that we should believe CMKX's Management is at this point, simply an observer, sitting on the sidelines witnessing with us (shareholders) the unfolding of activities over which they have no control.
I would ask the reader to consider this…..
In his 1958 masterpiece on The Philosophy of Physical Science, the physicist and astronomer, Sir Arthur Stanley Eddington, asked this intriguing question about observations made by scientists is equally appropriate in our situation.
"Quis custodiet? ipsos custodes?" Who will observe the observers?"
"He watches them to see what they really observe, which is often quite different from what they say they observe.
He examines their procedure and the essential limitations of the equipment they bring to their task, and by so doing becomes aware beforehand of limitations to which the results they obtain will have to conform.
Fw
Sorry guys..had a lot of time to think...while doing domestic chores and running a business...while my priorities have changed, my perception of CMKX as the potential stock play we all need to retire..hasn't....
Simple reality checking being done on my part....Stuff of a non cosmic importance...lol
